{"id":6024,"date":"2026-04-11T08:50:35","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T06:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/sd-luogo\/fallen-water-biotope\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T09:41:44","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T07:41:44","slug":"fallen-water-biotope","status":"publish","type":"sd-luogo","link":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/sd-luogo\/fallen-water-biotope\/","title":{"rendered":"Fallen Water Biotope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Acqua Caduta Biotope is located in the hamlet of Cimano, within the municipality of San Daniele del Friuli, and represents one of the most evocative natural sites in the Friuli hill area.<br \/>\nThe area, covering about 15 hectares, develops along the course of the Rio dell\u2019Acqua Caduta and hosts the only natural waterfall still active in the Tagliamento moraine amphitheatre, with a drop of about ten meters. The site is characterized by humid environments, rich in vegetation typical of shady and cool areas, and by diverse fauna including amphibians, insects, and small mammals.<br \/>\nFrom a geological perspective, the biotope crosses terrains formed by Miocene continental conglomerates, shaped over time by water erosion, which has created a landscape of great charm and scientific value.<br \/>\nThe Acqua Caduta nature trail is an easy route suitable for everyone, approximately 2.4 kilometers long with a modest elevation gain, ideal for nature walks and outdoor educational activities.
