During the Middle Ages, alongside the lords of Varmo, the gastald resided within the castle grounds, a figure appointed by the Patriarch to manage his assets and protect his prerogatives in San Daniele.<br \/>\nIn 1756, the Varmo feudal lords ceded the fiefdom to Giacomo de Concina, a Venice-based timber merchant, who entrusted the restoration of the gastald&#8217;s house to architect Alberto Bertoli. The work was completed in 1782. During the renovation, the barchesse were added and a small Italian garden was created.<br \/>\nThe property subsequently passed through a female line to the Masetti Zannini de Concina family, the current owners. Over the years, the palace suffered damage from wars and earthquakes but has been almost completely restored by its owners.
