The Church of San Bartolomeo stands in the heart of the village of Aonedis, in a picturesque location offering breathtaking views of the Tagliamento River. A quiet and secluded place where the natural landscape intertwines with the history of the community.
\nThe earliest references to the building date back to 1350 and are preserved in a document preserved in the ancient Guarneriana Library: Pellegrina di Toppo’s will mentions her desire to donate two pounds of oil for the illumination of the Church of San Bartolomeo, a sign of a devotion already alive in the Middle Ages.
\nThe church’s current appearance is the result of renovations and expansions carried out throughout the twentieth century, particularly in 1933 and 1957, when the sacristy and bell gable were built. Following the damage caused by the 1976 earthquake, restoration work uncovered the ancient foundations of the apse, revealing a precious fragment of the building’s earliest history.
