Of particular note are the artifacts from the quarry necropolis, dating back to the 1st century AD, including ceramics, bone tools, bronze and silver jewelry, coins, and glass objects. Materials from Roman villas are also on display, such as amphorae, brick fragments, and agricultural tools.<br \/>\nSacred Art Section<br \/>\nThe collection includes significant works, including stone sculptures such as a Nativity by Francesco da Milano and a Madonna del Carmine by Eugenio Pini dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Among the polyptychs, the Venetian Altarpiece in gilded and carved wood from 1441, attributed to Paolo di Amedeo and Michele Giambono, stands out. Also worthy of note is the Lamentation over the Dead Christ from 1488, a work by the Bavarian sculptor Leonardo Thanner, active in Friuli in the second half of the fifteenth century and created for the Church of Fratta which was kept between the Monte di Piet\u00e0 (1797-1920) and the Church of Sant’Antonio (1920-1990) until it was finally kept inside the Museum.<br \/>\nJewish Section<br \/>\nThis section preserves written and photographic documents of the Jewish presence in San Daniele del Friuli from the 16th century to the early decades of the 20th century and represents a significant part of local history. Having settled permanently since the 16th century, the community played a significant role in the town’s economic and social life, particularly through pawnbroking and trade. Over time, families such as the Nantua, Luzzatto, and Gentilli families contributed to the development of the area, living integrated into the urban and social fabric. After alternating periods of expulsion and return, the community gradually declined until it merged with the centers of Udine and Gorizia. The presence of the 18th-century Jewish cemetery preserves the most tangible reminder of a long presence deeply intertwined with the history of San Daniele.<br \/>\nBequests Section<br \/>\nThe museum’s collections have been formed thanks to important bequests that tell stories of profound ties to San Daniele del Friuli. From Giuseppe Vidoni’s collection, consisting of artworks, furnishings, and objects recreating the illustrious scholar’s home environment, to the donation of master caster Erasmo Contardo, with medals and caskets celebrating artists and places in Friuli, and the legacy of painter Giacinto Gattoli, author of vivid views of the region and works of great historical and artistic value. This diverse collection enriches the museum and strengthens its role as a custodian of local memory and creativity.          <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","tipo_luogo_sd":[365],"zona_sd":[263],"class_list":["post-6621","sd-luogo","type-sd-luogo","status-publish","hentry","tipo_luogo_sd-museums","zona_sd-city-center"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sd-luogo\/6621","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sd-luogo"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/sd-luogo"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6621"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"tipo_luogo_sd","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tipo_luogo_sd?post=6621"},{"taxonomy":"zona_sd","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/visitsandaniele.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/zona_sd?post=6621"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
