Villanova, a hamlet located south of San Daniele del Friuli, was the first town in Friuli-Venezia Giulia to erect, in the early days after the Liberation, a monument in memory of the war dead, built thanks to the will of its citizens. A special committee was formed to build the monument, which entrusted the project to Giacomo Manazzoni. The monument, inaugurated in January 1920, takes the form of a pyramid with four cannons placed at its corners, surrounded by a flowerbed and bordered by a railing.
