On the right side of the bell tower, you can admire the Casa del Trecento, the only medieval building in the ancient village that has survived intact to the present day.
The building once housed the Pawn Shop of San Daniele del Friuli, playing a crucial role in the town’s economy.
The Casa del Trecento survived the violent bombings of World War II (1944-1945) and the devastating earthquake of 1976, which caused severe damage to the town. After careful restoration, the building was entrusted to the local chapter of the National Alpine Association (ANA). It currently houses an exhibition of historical military memorabilia related to the Alpine Corps and the First World War.
To visit the Casa del Trecento and the exhibition of military memorabilia, it is advisable to book in advance by contacting the National Alpine Association of San Daniele del Friuli.
