Walk around the historic center

A pleasant circular route of about 3 km leads to the discovery of the historic center of San Daniele del Friuli, including panoramic views, ancient village streets, and evocative views of the city of ham.


The walk begins at Piazzale IV Novembre, with convenient parking, and winds along a scenic, shaded road that leads to one of the most picturesque spots on the route, near Villa Seravallo. From here, the route continues through the streets of the historic center, allowing you to admire the city's squares, historic buildings, and characteristic corners, before returning to the starting point.

A simple route suitable for everyone, it takes about an hour to complete and is ideal for slowly soaking up the atmosphere of San Daniele and enjoying its splendid views.

SQUARE IV NOVEMBER

  • Until 1847, “Braida” was a private square, later transformed into a cattle market square. Today it is home to the Parco delle Rimembranze.

VILLA SERRAVALLO (formerly Villa Giulia)

  • An early 20th-century Art Nouveau villa immersed in an elegant botanical park, now the town hall.

PORTONAT (Palladio’s arch)

  • Historic monumental gate redesigned by Andrea Palladio in 1579. Once an access point to the medieval walls, today it is a refined architectural symbol marking the entrance to the historic center.

CATHEDRAL OF SAINT MICHELE ARCHANGEL

  • The Cathedral of San Daniele, dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, is the city's main religious building and overlooks the square with an imposing eighteenth-century façade.

THE GUARNERIANA LIBRARY

THE HOUSE OF THE FOURTEENTH CENTURY
