THE OLD NAPOLEONIC PRISONS

  • A Napoleonic building originally built as a prison, it operated until the 1970s. Restored in 2016, it now houses the headquarters of the Prosciutto San Daniele Consortium.

SANTA MARIA DELLA FRATTA

THE BELL TOWER.

  • The 16th-century Anduins stone bell tower, designed by Giovanni da Udine, is the symbol of San Daniele. Famous for its Friulian bells and the historic siren that rings every day at noon.

THE HOUSE OF THE FOURTEENTH CENTURY

  • Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-12.45pm, 5-7pm. Opening hours may vary as the organisation is run by volunteers.

  • The Casa del Trecento is the only intact medieval building in San Daniele del Friuli. Today, it houses an exhibition of Alpine and World War I memorabilia, which can be visited by appointment.

MASETTI DE CONCINA PALACE

  • A historic residence of medieval origin, Palazzo Masetti de Concina was the residence of the patriarchal steward. Restored in the 18th century with barchesse and an Italian garden, it is still owned by the family today.

  • Historic monumental gate redesigned by Andrea Palladio in 1579. Once an access point to the medieval walls, today it is a refined architectural symbol marking the entrance to the historic center.

CHURCH OF SANT’ANTONIO ABATE

  • Considered the “Sistine Chapel of Friuli,” the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate houses an extraordinary cycle of Renaissance frescoes by Pellegrino da San Daniele.
