Specific information
Until 1847, this part of the city was a private “Braida.” Following a resolution of the City Council in 1846 to relieve the presence of animals in the Borgo di San Francesco, it was transformed into a market square.
In 1903, construction began on the new elementary school, which now houses the Vincenzo Manzini state institute of higher education.
In 1908, at the request of the state, a decision was made to build a barracks with stables, located on the current “Zanussi” sports field.
After the Second World War, the Parco delle Rimembranze (Park of Remembrance) was created in the center of the square, a memorial dedicated to the fallen of the Great War. Inside the park, there is now a war memorial, inaugurated on September 16, 1923, and built thanks to a fundraiser in which many San Daniele residents participated.
