This charming circular route takes cyclists on a discovery of some of the most picturesque corners of the Friulian hills, combining natural panoramas, quiet secondary roads, and glimpses of the Tagliamento River. Starting from the historic center of San Daniele del Friuli, the route winds through the rolling moraine hills that characterize the area, offering an ideal experience for those who want to train surrounded by nature.
After leaving the village known worldwide for its celebrated prosciutto, the ride continues towards the Ragogna area, crossing scenic roads that offer sweeping views of the Friulian plain and the Carnic Prealps. One of the most picturesque points of the route is the passage near Lake Ragogna, a small body of water surrounded by greenery and an important natural area in the region.
The route then reaches the Tagliamento Bridge, a privileged vantage point for observing Friuli Venezia Giulia's most important river. From here, you can admire the wide gravel banks and the unique river landscape of the Tagliamento, considered one of the last major Alpine rivers still characterized by a high degree of natural beauty.
The second part of the loop alternates between flat stretches and hilly ups and downs, requiring a good level of fitness. The well-maintained, paved roads allow for a smooth and enjoyable ride, allowing you to appreciate the numerous panoramic views, small rural villages, and the Friulian countryside.
