Specific information
The lake extends over approximately 25 hectares and reaches a maximum depth of 10 meters. Its shores are surrounded by reed beds, wet meadows, and alder and willow forests, which provide refuge to numerous animal species.
Among the aquatic plants, the water chestnut (Trapa natans) stands out, a botanical rarity that still finds an ideal habitat here.
The area is rich in migratory and aquatic birds—including herons, coots, mallards, and grebes—making the lake a perfect destination for birdwatchers and nature photographers.
Trails and Activities
Lake Ragogna is part of the European Natura 2000 network as a Site of Community Importance (SCI), recognized for its biodiversity and the presence of habitats of natural and scientific interest.
Its conservation is managed through environmental protection projects and nature education trails.
A convenient 4-kilometer cycle/pedestrian loop allows you to explore the entire perimeter of the lake. The trail is flat and suitable for everyone: families, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
There are rest areas, picnic tables, and a viewing tower for bird watching and sunsets along the way.
