Specific information
The house, now privately owned, has a long history. The first evidence of its existence can be found as early as 1388, through numerous testamentary deeds recorded in documents preserved in the ancient municipal register housed in the Guarneriana Library. In 1497, the property was donated to Elena Portuneria, wife of Pellegrino di San Daniele, thanks to a legacy from her uncle, Prè Augusto.
Upon the painter’s death, the house passed to his daughter, who sold it to the Cassi blacksmiths of Villanova, who moved both their workshop and home there. Their descendants remained in San Daniele for a long time, where they established themselves over time, prospering both economically and culturally.
